Tarkay
Itzchak
At the age of nine, Tarkay and his family were sent to the Mathausen
Concentration Camp, until they were freed a year later. In 1949 his
family emigrated to Israel and Tarkay soon received a scholarship
to the Bezalel Art Academy. He graduated in 1956 from the Avni Institute
of Art. Tarkay has achieved recognitin as a leading representative
of a new generation of figurative artists. He is clearly inspired
by French Impressionism and has exhibited both in Israel and abroad.
